Cut various colors of tissue paper into small pieces.

The tissue paper suncatcher kids craft was very simple. Depending upon the age of your kids, you may be more of less involved. A toddler would need an adult to be hands on, whereas a grade schooler could work mainly independently. First, I cut tissue paper into strips.


There are four different templates: leaf, apple, acorn, and pumpkin. While making the leaf suncatcher , you can talk about the leaves changing color and even gather some up for leaf rubbings. To start, open up a laminator sheet and then just place tissue paper squares all over.


You can even overlap them if you’d like. After the sheet is mostly full, you can put the top down.

Carefully lift it up and run it through the laminator. I printed out this rainbow template to use as a guide. Cut the tissue paper into squares that are about inch. Lay the contact paper sticky side up over top of the template.


Take a piece of Wax paper and start applying a thin layer of mod podge onto the wax paper. Use a foam brush to apply mod podge. Peel off the backing of the contact paper and completely cover the sticky side with the tissue paper squares. Now cut another piece of clear contact paper (same size as the first), and place it over the top of the tissue paper , sandwiching it between the two outside layers of contact paper.


Tissue Paper Suncatchers Once the suncatcher design is complete just let the glue dry completely before hanging it on the window. Step 1: Tear off a section of wax paper about 12″ long. Cut 1″ squares out of the tissue paper. Step 2: Use the glue stick to affix the small pieces of tissue paper to the wax paper. You need two copies for each suncatcher.
