At the end of your tenancy , your landlord must pay back the deposit, plus any interest accrued in the meantime. A few factors come into play here.
First, there’s no law that states your tenant has to keep the property at a certain level of cleanliness from day-to-day. Even if you keep your rented property very clean, when it comes to moving you can quickly realise just how big a job this can be. The law requires that month-to-month tenants give landlords at least days written notice before vacating their units. When a tenant signs a lease with a landlor the tenant agrees that the tenancy will last for a certain amount of time, often one year.
